About Me
My passion for working with this group comes from my own experience in the arts, as well as, being born into a family of creatives. Growing up I spent most of my childhood performing professionally and locally in the Los Angeles area. As a young adult, I continued my training in musical theater at a top conservatory. As I reached my early 20s, I realized my love for the arts did not mean I wanted to pursue a career as a performer. Through my experiences doing research and providing therapy, I realized that by bringing my past experiences into my work, my career became a calling.
My style differs from other clinicians, not just because of my history, but because of the active role I take in sessions. While the importance of listening and silence cannot be denied, I want my clients to know we are in this process together. I speak up in session to ask my clients questions that will help them gain insight, and to explore their true therapeutic needs. I examine each client’s individual needs, and provide education and tangible coping tools when clients are looking for more direction in therapy. I believe in creating a treatment approach that is catered to each individual client.
In regards to training and experience, I have a master’s in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University and a master’s in Social Work from NYU. I have clinical experience working with substance abuse, eating disorders, LGBTQIA+, young adults, adjustment disorders, trauma, depression, and anxiety. I have additional trainings in motivational interviewing, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, sex and couples, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, EFT Tapping, trauma informed care, and substance use disorders. While all of my education is important and necessary, I believe the real magic of therapy comes from the strength of the therapeutic relationship.
